Mexico 1492: variety of Sacred Heart shaped napkin holders, made of tinplate in a repujado technique

Tinplate

Unlike copper, that was known and worked in Mexico since pre-Columbian times, tinplate and the techniques like repujado (embossment) were brought to the Americas later, through European influences in the 16th century.

But what a remarkable result we got, after it merged with the Mexican creativity. Another great example of how the sum of the parts can result in an exceptional outcome, when there is talent involved.
